Amman Christmas Market 2

الكريسماس وليلة رأس السنة في الأردن – موسم الوئام والفرح

Every winter, Jordan comes alive with the warm glow of the holiday season of Christmas and New Year Eve, and Christmas in 2025 promises to be truly magical! In this beautiful Kingdom, Christmas isn’t just a day on the calendar; it’s a time when traditions, cultures, and communities come together to celebrate joy, generosity, and hope.

In Jordan, Christmas Day is a public holiday for everyone, not only for Christians, a meaningful reflection of the country’s respect for religious diversity and coexistence. Streets are decorated, churches are illuminated, and families from all backgrounds join in the celebrations, exchanging greetings and sharing the festive spirit together.

It is of course worth noting that Christian cities such as Madaba and Fuheis organize events and activities too. Every year Madaba has a magnificent tree covered in beautiful lights, and several of the churches run services.

This harmony is led from the top. Our Royal Family consistently sets an inspiring example, celebrating Christmas alongside the Christian community and reinforcing Jordan’s long-standing values of tolerance, respect, and unity. Moments like the Christmas tree lighting in Madaba remind us that Jordan’s strength lies in its togetherness.

Across the country, cities come alive with festive markets, concerts, and family-friendly events, from the joyful streets of Amman to the historic charm of Madaba and Salt. Whether you’re strolling through a Christmas market, enjoying local treats, or capturing the glow of holiday lights, the season feels welcoming and heartfelt.

The Boulevard, aka ‘the new Downtown’, is the top hot-spot for festivals of any and every kind, often there are market stalls lining the walkways and musical performances in the evenings; Christmas is no exception. The place comes to life under the twinkling lights with the sound of Christmas carols ringing in the air. Seasonal goodies are sure to be on offer, meaning you can pull up a chair, enjoy a warming cup of something and tuck into the tastiest treats. It makes a fantastic festive time to be spent with friends and loved ones.

Of course Amman has a fantastic selection of Malls, and what could be more seasonal than spending time (and money) shopping?! Malls are abuzz with chatter and movement too, the joyful noise of people enjoying themselves together being another key aspect of what makes Christmas special.

Several hotels and charities, either independently or in conjunction with one another, organize events such as Christmas bazaars in the city, which anyone is able to attend should they so wish. Tickets to such events are usually only JD1!

The souks, as described here, truly do capture the essence of Christmas: one can wander the stalls in the chilly air, perusing the sweet treats, and Christmas themed trinkets to their heart’s content.
