Each traveller has their own desires and priorities when it comes to accommodation in a city; for some a hotel is somewhere to dump the bags while they’re out exploring, for another it is the place of recuperation before the rest of your adventure.

Just as each adventurer has a different personality, so does each hotel.

We want to tailor each and every experience of Jordan to fit the individual perfectly.

With this in mind, how could we ever settle on having only one hotel to recommend? We couldn’t, and we won’t.

Of course, there are some standards and criteria that all hotels must meet in order to make them acceptable: cleanliness and friendly service being amongst the most important.

It is essential to us that we, as Experience Jordan, believe in and understand completely every area that we are involved in. For this reason we are not happy to recommend accommodation based solely on word of mouth and web-reviews, we know the value of giving you a first-hand testimony of anywhere and anything that we publicly endorse.

With this in mind, the team took to the streets of Amman to scour out the best selection of hotels- 3*, 4* and 5*- in order that we could present you with this: a selection of completely different hotels, to match the variety of travellers that frequent Amman.

Here are our selective top picks of the many 3* hotels Amman has to offer. They will all ensure a pleasant and comfortable stay, but each has its own character and its own location meaning one may be better suited to you as an individual.

For the hotel experience: Larsa Hotel

Larsa, a large and bright hotel full of greenery, is situated in a residential neighbourhood as oppose to a commercial hub.

This makes it extremely convenient particularly for tourists who do not have much spare time, who feel they would appreciate extra rest, or who look to a hotel for its facilities.

Larsa is the best of our 3*s for offering a hotel experience, boasting a restaurant that serves three meals a day, room service, gym facilities, and a sauna and steam room.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and options include: twin, double, king, triple, and suite.

Should you wish to shop or dine out, the hotel does also offer free transportation to two of Amman’s enormous malls: City and Mecca. Taxis are easy to catch from these locations, so returning- although independent- should be stress-free.

For the independent explorer: Art Hotel, Downtown

We recommend this hotel for restless travellers who wish to do some self-led adventuring as well as their organised tours. Located in the heart of the downtown, a copious amount of Jordanian “must-try” foods are on offer: opposite the hotel is Hashem’s falafel, a few buildings to the right Amman’s most famous Knafeh vendor, a two minute walk and you’ll find yourself at Jafra’s, a renowned café boasting traditional cuisine, coffee, and Shisha.

Being in the city’s heart, you are surrounded with things to see and do: you are only a few minutes walk from the amphitheatre, the Arab baths, the main mosque, the fruit market… The exploration possibilities are endless!

It’s worth noting that the hotel itself has a truly lovely atmosphere, with a Jordanian artist’s work featured throughout all of the rooms.

Due to its situation in the Downtown, the older more conservative part of the city, we do advise travellers (particularly women) attracted by this option not to come if they are alone.

For the best of both worlds: Rum Hotel, Sweifieh

This hotel is in the centre of Sweifieh, a neighbourhood with shops, cafes, restaurants, and pubs all in its immediate vicinity, making it excellent for those among you who like to stay in a place with things to do in. (Plus, our offices are a 10 second walk up the road- so we can say hello!)

The hotel is lovely in itself, the rooms are comfortable, and the catering is good. It has fewer facilities than Larsa, but it is in a place with much more to occupy you, although less of an adventure than being in the Downtown.

Unfortunately, they received a few bad reviews on trip advisor a few years ago, which has tarnished their reputation somewhat. However it has since come under new management, and in our tour of their restaurant and rooms we found it an extremely pleasant place.
