Discovering the unbeaten paths

I met Ayman over coffee with some friends when I first arrived to Jordan three months ago, and since the day he told me of their weekly walks I’ve eagerly been waiting to recover from my knee injury and join these hikes.

The wait was long but I was not proven wrong. Yesterday’s walk was one of nicest days since my arrival in Amman. A 16km walk through the highlands of northern Jordan, which is home to a completely different vegetation than the south. Green hilltops with olive and oaks trees extending till the horizon meet with the soil. Ayman made tea for us in the middle of our hike, a lovely surprise, and the walk finished with a late lunch at the home of the local guide. Delectable home cooked meal, eaten in company of the hikers (a fun group), Ayman, the local guide, the driver and the home children playing hide and seek with us.

There team is enterprising and always looking for new off track routes. Be sure to have a wonderful time if you are in company of Ayman and his team.
